Brainstorm 5 - For Writing Chapter 5

- Madam and Elsie

    - Madam more a force of nature than a character?

    - did she even tell Elsie to kill Fiona?  Is Elsie going rouge because she saw Fiona give a secret message to Fran?

    - Madam turns on Elsie, sides with the rehabbers?

    - Elsie thinks she knows better than Madam, wants to challenge her for top spot in the family or something.  Elsie thinks Madam is losing touch with why they are here, doing what they are doing.

    - Elsie made the Fiona monster on purpose, hoping that it might attack Madam and take her out

    - Elsie is not in the hallway outside the dining room with the group, so where is she?  What is she doing?  Still in the barn?

- Fiona monster (FM)

    - does the FM have warm feelings toward Elsie, her creator?  Or Madam?

    - usually Madam makes the monsters, so she would know that Elsie created this one right away, also, Madam is used to the monsters being under her control because she is their creator.  So she thinks she can control this one too, or does she know she cannot control it because it has another creator.  Or is Madam a creature whisperer and knows she can always control monsters.  Elsie knows this?

    - Madam perhaps has a special amulet that gives her some control?

- Beat 7 - The Chase (666 words) - “The monster pursues the characters, who lack the skills to fight it; one or more people may die here”

    - do they leave the house?  Does Madam have a plan, “Okay everyone, let’s get to the bunker”?

        - or is this a variation on their original plan to divide and kill the rehabbers off?

        - the door to the dining room had the lock on it for some purpose

    - the monster is trying to get through the door, it will break through eventually.  They head to the door to get away, Elsie comes in.  Through the interaction between Madam and Elsie, we see something is not right between them.  This is unusual situation for them.

    - the monster can break through the door or smash through a window to break this up and get things moving again.

    - Stella attack?  The ladies run in 2 groups to get away.  One group led by Elsie, one by Madam?

        - The monster follows the group with Stella in it and Stella attacks.  Dies?

        - Both Madam and Elsie try briefly to convince the ladies to go with them

- Beat 8 - Failed Confrontation (333 words) - “The main character attempts to destroy the monster, but does not yet possess the ability to do so”

    - who is the main character?

        - Fran has been doing the most but is it time to pass the torch? Fran becomes the “final girl” because so much has happened to her??  Her mental health has already taken a hit.  She is fragile right now, and for a while.

            - Esther (Fran’s bunkmate)

            - Beth (Red hair, meeker)

            - Stella (hot-tempered, sweary)

               - should die?  After raising up to be the hero, but is unable to do damage to the monster

    - Beth is coming up as the hero by process of elimination

    - After Stella dies, Beth talks to Elsie (apparently Stella and Beth went with Elsie, while Fran went with Madam)

        - Did Stella have a gun?

    - Do we kill this monster and have a different monster later?

    - Monster kills Stella, takes the body.  She can be sewn to a cat head later and be another monster?

    - Stella kills the FM and then Madam kills Stella?

- Beth sees her bunkmate Stella get killed by monster, is unhappy, resolves to figure this out/find out how to  fight the monster more successfully than Stella had.

    - looks for clues in the book?
