Brainstorm to write Chapter 8:
Beat 11: Seeking Out the Beast - For the first time, the hero approaches the monster, rather than fleeing from it. They intend to enact their solution (333 words)
Beat 12: The True Cost is Revealed - In the process of confronting the monster, the hero realizes that to overcome it, the internal conflict must be encountered and defeated. That is the hidden cost; the hero will be irrevocably changed (666 words)
- Who is the “hero”?
- The superbogmonster?
- Superbogmonsters “internal conflict”? Made of sexual harassers (maybe the clipboard ladies are graduates of the rehab program and now they help to run it, so Debra is also a sexual harasser). So Id out of control? Letting a natural drive overtake you and make you act counter to social norms and the personal safety of someone else? Some kind of power thing?
- Elsie?
- Since the monster is her idea, and her solution, maybe Elsie is the “hero”. Her inner conflict is going back to the old ways vs the new ways. So that is simpler than trying to make sexual harassment the internal conflict. Also, this is easily shown by the fight between the superbogmonster and the Oracle spider monster.
- Start with team Oracle. We can show here “the monster in repose”.
- Are the Spider Monster and Madam in love?
- Madam is fixing the spidermonster after the fight in the barn where it got mildly injured. She could be using the bog juice to fix it.
- Are there little spider monsters in this robot workshop? Other kinds of robot monsters?
- what of Luanne (clipboard lady) and Esther (camper), who had both chosen to stay with Madam after the barn fight? They cower and judge from the sidelines during the monster fight. After the spider monster is killed, one of these ladies on team Oracle switches sides and backs team Bogmonster.
- the superbogmonster comes in to attack the Oracle monster/monsters? The superbogmonster is going to win this fight, but then the superbogmonster dies anyway. The next chapter begins with Madam and Elsie fighting, instead of their monster stand-ins?
- Madam can interact with the Tandy during the fight. Elsie is standing back from her monster during the fight, but is there. Does someone have Stella’s gun?
- After both monsters are dead, Elsie has some kind of backup/last ditch thing she pulls out. Like “it didn’t make sense to use this when I had my superbogmonster, but now...”? Or is it Madam who has the special, secret thing?
- After the spidermonster is killed, Madam loses it (cuz love) and pulls out the special secret thing and it kills the superbogmonster. She does something that causes the bog to be destroyed? Something technology/electricity based? She has a secret bucket of bog juice in reserve that she kept for just such an occasion(since her robots are powered by bog juice) - but this bucket isn’t revealed until the end?? She plans on growing a new bog with her reserved bog juice so she can continue with her robot monsters???
